Before earning my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Florida Gulf Coast University and my Teacher Certification K-6, in December 2010, I worked as both a newspaper reporter/photographer and a teacher.
I conducted interviews with city officials, county officials, covered public board meetings and public interests, shot and edited photographs, and had my photos featured on front page of The News-Press and multiple sections and the Naples Daily News, all included in my portfolio.
Through my reporting experiences, I learned to write weekly news, daily news, feature stories, investigative articles, and special editions. Through my internship, I learned how to better shoot and edit photographs for publication.
My Bachelor’s Degree in Communication is a comprehensive education in Interpersonal Communication, Group Communication, and Rhetoric. My broadened understanding of Communication gives me a better understanding for careers in business and public relations.
I counseled and taught disadvantaged middle and high school students at a second chance school for four years, taught the fourth grade at a Christian school, taught an elementary after-school program and preschool students, and worked as Lead
Counselor.
With my degree in Communication, I have strong interpersonal, cultural and social foundations and know how to successfully navigate and chart various types of people's methods of understanding. I received a solid foundation in teaching, journalism, business, law, public relations, mass communication, and environmental communication.
Through my teaching experiences, I learned how to effectively counsel, organize, teach and lead, not only various age groups in education activities specific to assigned specialty areas, but also my peers and team members.
